What if the reason governments around the world want to control all information services because the reality of the global network could mean the end of government as we know it? What if the need for representation is unnecessary. I don’t need a politician to speak for me in a world where I can tweet what I want from my fellow human being and find others in the global collective that feel the same way.
Why do I need a government deciding a war is in my best interest when the people we are warring against don’t want that war any more than I do… what if we get along and have a common ground that we can meet and converse about on facebook.
What if a scientist or even the guy in the next state comes up with an idea that makes life better for everyone and can prove it. What if he or she needs some help producing that idea and after making millions of people worldwide aware of it, asks for a small donation to make their idea a reality for all to enjoy… without a bunch of politicians and private interests getting in the way? Wouldn’t that make the world a better place for everyone?
No wars because everyone could collectively say no and agree to it, green energy sources developed locally without a small group of elitists deciding whether we could have it or not. No more bailing out of business that defraud the public, no more oil industry control over our energy policy, no more need for a military industrial complex run amok, no more bullshit from on high being dumped on our heads and telling us it’s in our best interests.
All because we could all talk to each other and honestly vote for what we want (and that vote actually counted)… really govern ourselves in a true democratic fashion. It’s already been proven that a population, that can communicate in real-time, can remove a dictator, allow aid to get through to people who need it, shine light on dirty lying scumbags trying to cheat the public or cheat on their wife or even trying to get another human being killed by swaying public opinion against their humanitarian efforts.
The internet can be the vehicle that gives us a chance to be a real society of human beings maybe even put us on the path to a type one society. Imagine the good we could do if we could all ignore the politics of the few and come together for the greater good of humanity. A world of the self governed, imagine that.
